MyAccessible.EU OpenStreetMap Tools for People with Reduced Mobility Released

As part of the MyAccessible.EU project (CAP4Access) several tools have been developed at GIScience in Heidelberg. These tools aim at collecting information about accessibility of places and to assist in movement through environments for people with reduced mobility. These tools include a mobile (Android) and web application for the collection and display of obstacles in the environment based o OpenStreetMap, an extension to the widely used OpenRouteService which takes into account restrictions present for wheelchair users, and a mobile navigation app (Android) aimed at wheelchair users that provides landmark based navigation instructions.

The portal for downloading and accessing these tools can be found at http://cap4navi.geog.uni-heidelberg.de/tools.

These tools are still in the prototype stage and so further development is planned including the integration of the obstacle tagging with the navigation app. If you find any issues whilst using them, please email myaccessible.eu@uni-heidelberg.de and let us know.
