The International Digital Earth Science Forum organized by Institute for Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing (IGF), the Youth Commission of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and the Association for the Promotion of Geoinformatics in Nothern Germany (GiN e.V.) took place on 4th of December 2013 at the University of Osnabrueck inside the botanical garden. This event could follow up the first event of its kind – the Hengstberger Symposium Towards Digital Earth – 3D Spatial Data Infrastructures – that was organized in Heidelberg in 2011.
Several presentations on most recent trends in Digital Earth (DE) Research and Apps could give an extensive overview of the benefits but also limitations of current DE research and implementation strategies. The final panel discussion highlighted the importance of a broad range of new DE activities that will start in 2014. These shall increase awareness and acceptance of DE in research and the public.
Thanks to Florian Hillen for the perfect organization!
