Do cities make us ill? – new project on PsychoGeoinformatics

To what extend do urban environments put stress on mental health? And how can geographic information and analysis support in discovering the underlying relationships ? These are the core research questions of the new collaboration project “PsychoGeoinformatics”. The project has been accepted as a twinning project of the Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at Heidelberg University within the research topic of “Scientific Computing in Medicine and Health Care” in cooperation with the GIScience Research Group at Heidelberg University and the Central Institute for Mental Health (ZI) in Mannheim (Prof. Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg). It extends related work through a special focus on new GI methods, geographic data quality and the inclusion of crowdsourced G (VGI) such as OpenStreetMap. Students interested in such topics are invited to contact us for thesis or student work.
