Dear colleagues and students,
We would like to invite you to our upcoming GIS colloquium.
We are very pleased to host guest speaker Sebastián Block Munguía from the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy (Yale University), who will give a talk on “Spatial datasets to assess countries’ environmental performance”.
He will tell a short story of how and why he went from being a forest ecologist to becoming a data scientist focused on assessing countries’ environmental performance. He will then give an overview of his current work as the project director of the Environmental Performance Index, and focus on the diverse spatial datasets that are used to score countries’ air and water quality, pesticide pollution, and the effectiveness of their protected areas.
The colloquium will take place at INF 205 (Mathematikon, IWR), in the conference room 5.104 on Tuesday 28th November 2023 at 2:15 pm.
