Dr. Nicole Aeschbach (TdLab Geography) conceives and leads the “Students’ Workshop” within the framework of the “7th German-Japanese University Presidents’ Conference” of the HeKKSaGOn network on September 12 and 13, 2019 in Heidelberg. In this university consortium, Heidelberg University, the University of Göttingen and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology have joined forces with three of Japan’s leading universities – Kyoto University, Osaka University and Tohoku University. The aims of the network are to expand cooperation in research and teaching, initiate joint research projects and graduate programs, and promote the exchange of students, doctoral students and scientists. A workshop for students with participants from all network universities is embedded in the conference of the presidents and the scientific working groups. 21 invited students from Japan and Germany work together with Nicole Aeschbach on current challenges in the context of sustainable development.
