Call for Abstracts
for the 3rd PhD Colloquium of the DGK Section on Geoinformatics and the DGPF Working Group on Geoinformatics
March 7, 2017, in Würzburg prior to the DGPF annual meeting
The Section on Geoinformatics (Sektion Geoinformatik) of the German Geodetic Commission (Deutsche Geodätische Kommission, DGK) and the Working Group on Geoinformatics (Arbeitskreis Geoinformatik) of the German Society for Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photogrammetrie, Fernerkundung und Geoinformation, DGPF) will hold their third joint PhD colloquium on March 7, 2017, in Würzburg. The colloquium aims to stimulate scientific exchange between young researchers in the interdisciplinary field of geoinformatics. It is targeted at PhD students who have already made considerable advances in their PhD projects, are motivated to share their findings, and are open for feedback and discussions. PhD students from all disciplines dealing with methods for the processing of geospatial information (e.g., geoinformatics, photogrammetry, computer science, cartography, geography, remote sensing) are welcome. We particularly invite PhD students working on problems related to the following focus topic:
- Networks and trajectories
More generally, the colloquium is open to the following topics:
Automatic interpretation of data from all kinds of mapping sensors
- Automatic interpretation of data from all kinds of mapping sensors
- Algorithms for spatial analysis and spatial data mining
- Automation in cartography
Contributions must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Each contribution must be summarized and submitted in form of an abstract of about two pages. Based on the submissions PhD students will be invited.
- Each accepted abstract will be presented either in a short (5 minute) talk or in a full-length talk of approx. 30 to 45 minutes.
- We encourage presenters of both short and full-length talks to address open problems rather than to report their published results.
The workshop will begin at about 11.00 am, which will allow participants from most parts of Germany to arrive on the same day. The detailed schedule will be determined based on the number of presentations.
The language of the colloquium is English. The colloquium will be chaired by multiple professors from geoinformatics. An overview talk on the focus topic will be given by Prof. Dr. Sabine Storandt, Würzburg.
Participation is free of charge. Applications (including name, affiliation, and abstract) are to be sent by January 20, 2017 via e-mail to Jan-Henrik Haunert (haunert@igg.uni-bonn.de).
The Organizers: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan-Henrik Haunert, Bonn / Jun.-Prof. Dr. Bernhard Höfle, Heidelberg
